The rivalry between Los Angeles and Boston, as their baseball teams compete in the 2018 World Series, has extended beyond the diamond with Beverly Hospital in Massachusetts and Beverly Hospital in Southern California making a friendly wager based on the outcome of the games.

Officials from Beverly Hospital, located in Beverly, MA, have challenged officials at Beverly Hospital, located in Montebello, CA, a community situated about 10 miles east of Los Angeles.

If the Dodgers lose, Beverly Hospital’s President and CEO Alice Cheng has to wear Red Sox gear. If the Red Sox lose, CEO Philip M. Cormier will have to don Dodgers gear.

About five hours before the Dodgers take the field against the Boston Red Sox for Game Three, and for the first time on their home turf, Beverly Hospital staff, in Montebello, cheered on the Boys in Blue.

Children at a nearby elementary school chanted “Go Dodgers!” before the 50 staff members, all wearing Dodgers gear, walked from just outside the hospital’s lobby to the corner of Beverly Boulevard and Poplar Avenue to cheer on their favorite team
