Parents of 2019 Beverly Hospital's New Year baby, Estela, hold her and smile at the camera.

Jennifer Martinez planned on spending New Year’s Eve celebrating, but not at Beverly Hospital’s Maternity Center! She delivered thirteen minutes after ringing in 2019 and celebrated her husband’s birthday with a most precious gift – their second daughter, Estela.

Baby Estela wasn’t expected to arrive until next week, but it looks like that the baby wasn’t going to miss all the New Year’s Day festivities. Jennifer, the infant’s mom, started feeling symptoms on the 31st, but waited a while before calling Dr. Lydia Aguilera’s office for medical advice. They suggested she make her way to the hospital, and, sure enough, after a brief exam the nursing staff kept her for delivery. Jennifer waited as contractions and other labor symptoms progressed throughout the night.  Dr. Aguilera arrived shortly after midnight and baby Estela was welcomed at 12:13 am; officially becoming the first baby born at Beverly Hospital for 2019.

The proud parents couldn’t be more pleased. Born a healthy 7 lbs. 14 ounces, the baby is in great health and will be going home to celebrate 2019 with the rest of her family.
